It's time machine time!

In yet another shameless attempt to increase blogging traffic, I began thinking of some more favorite child hood things. Great TV shows come to mind here, so in no particular order.... here we go!

  1. BattleStar Galactica-- If you loved Star Wars like I did as a kid then this one is a no brainer!
  2. Buck Rogers-- Same as above
  3. Miami Vice-- OK I was close to being a teen when this one was on TV... But the plastel t-shirts that Crocket wore were the bomb!
  4. S.W.A.T-- More early 80's or late 70's, it wasn't on very long but boy it was cool
  5. T.J. Hooker-- William Shattner, how can you go wrong.
  6. G.I. Joe- even though no one died in the major battle scenes, still a great cartoon.
  7. Air Wolf-- Cool helicopter

we may have.... I couldn't think of anything else to write about... Writer's block and work are a killer combo.

Sarah, my respect for you grows with posts like these. I'll vote you female blogger of the year if you tell us that when you were a kid you:

a) Spent half the day on Saturdays looking for a board and some bricks to make a sweet ramp.

b) Made a flame thrower from a can of Lysol, or

c) Went dumpster diving for either bicycle parts or decoration for your room.

Answer "yes" to one or more of these questions and you also qualify yourself to be considered a redneck (at least as a kid).

She gets double points if when making the ramp she laid down behind the ramp and let her friends jump over her, like we used to do.

LOL. Like Evel Knievel did with buses and cars and stuff. I remember doing the same thing - both jumping and being jumped.

We used to put dirt on the ramp so that dust that flew off when you jumped it would seem like smoke. Actually, it looked alot more realistic in our minds.

The craziest thing I ever tried to jump was across the road. Our house had a concrete ditch beside it that ended at a raised concrete covered culvert. It was raised about 15 inches or so and was setback about 10 feet from the road. The road itself was about 12-15 feet wide. So I was attempting to jump about 25 feet. Too bad I didn't consider my landing area very well (my neighbor's gravel driveway). Well I found a nice board, set in front of the culvert, took my bike to the top of the ditch (which was the next street up - maybe 100 yards or so). I picked up plenty of speed as it was an all downhill run. Hit the ramp, launched in the air, landed right at the edge of the drive and promptly wiped out. No broken bones, but plenty sore enough to not try jumping for the rest of the day. Just like Evel did it.

I had thought of attempting to jump a four foot wide drainage ditch in our neighborhood but I chickened out. Good thing because one of the older kids started ragging on me for not doing it and he went ahead and tried it. He jumped and came up short on the landing, breaking his arm.... You can't fix stupid!!!
